Thunder Shooter's Club F.A.Q.s
What is Thunder Shooter's Club?Thunder Shooter's Club is a members only shooting organization established to help shooters move their shooting beyond stationary targets. The goal of Thunder Shooter's Club is to help shooters develop their defensive shooting skills by offering them the opportunity to shoot in a dynamic environment, engage multiple targets, shoot on the move, draw from the holster and shooting moving targets.
What kind of training will Thunder Shooter's Club offer?
The club will offer skill development classes every month for shooters to attend. Each class will focus on one particular defensive handgun skill and present shooters with the basic knowledge they need to understand the skill, practice it and learn how to practice it in the future. We will also offer classes on defensive rifle and shotgun classes.
As a new shooter, can I benefit from joining Thunder Shooter's Club?
As a new member, you will receive instruction on the basics of handling a firearm in a safe, supportive and fun atmosphere. If any shooter feels they don't want to attend one of the classes, they can arrange for private instruction. Instruction for new shooters will be tailored to their needs.
How will I be kept safe?
The primary focus of everything Thunder Shooter's Club does is to protect the safety of participants. Instructors will focus on teaching in a safe environment where all safety rules are strictly adhered to. Safe behavior by participants is expected and failure of a member to follow safety rules will result in correction and repeated unsafe behavior could lead to removal from the club.
Is this "Tactical" Training?
To the extent that you will learn how to run a firearm to defend yourself, you will learn some "tactical" skills. Thunder Shooter's Club is, however, here to serve civilian shooters who want to develop their skills in a safe, supportive and encouraging environment. All our instructors will focus on the skills a civilian may need to defend themselves if all else fails.
Will I be allowed to practice?
All members will be provided with opportunities to practice either through coached practices or scheduled practice sessions. Advanced members will be allowed to practice on their own.
How are members classified and how can they advance from one level to the next?
When someone joins the club, they are classified as "New Members" and remain in this classification until they attend a new shooter safety class, attend the monthly Men's and Woman's class or demonstrate their involvement in organized competitive shooting like IDPA, USPSA, or ICORE. Once the "New Shooter" attends the safety class, their status is upgraded to member and they can begin to attend classes and other club events.
Once they complete one of the advancement requirements, they are classified as "Member." A member is allowed to attend all classes, organized practice session and events.
Once a member has demonstrated their commitment to safe gun handling through regular attendance at organized practice sessions or through attending multiple classes, and the current club instructors approve, the member's classification is changed to "Advanced Member." Advanced members have the additional benefit of being allowed to practice by themselves or with up to two other advanced members.
Members who have completed NRA Range Safety Officer, IDPA Range Officer, or USPSA Range Officer certification, and are approved by Thunder Shooter's Club Management will be certified to act as Club Range officers and will be allowed to lead practice sessions of "Members."
What is planned for the future?
As the club grows, we will expand into other areas. We are expanding our facilities and looking into practice, training and competition opportunities that will continue to challenge members and allow their skills to continue to improve. We do not want our members to get bored.
How can I join?
